cinema trust the second part of the “Free Cinema” movement review program will be implemented this week in cooperation with Iran’s National Cinema.
With this view, in the meeting on Sunday, November 13, 1403, at 15:00, three short films “Abandoned Height” (18:31 minutes – Zinda Yad Behnam Jafari), “The Girl Just Didn’t Want to Be Alone” (31 minutes – Nasser Gholamrezaei) and “The Street” (18 minutes – Majid Jovanmard) will be shown at Cinematheque Hall.
The “free cinema” movement was a move towards honoring the “short film”; Partly in response to the commercial cinema of the time and partly in an effort to search for new cinematography.
In this movement, young filmmakers started making in different cities of Iran 8 mm short films with different themes and structure and many of them entered the professional cinema space after the victory of the revolution.
Also, after the screening of the films, Mr. Ahmed Amini, Nasser Gholamrezaei, Majid Javanmard and Hadi Alipanah, critic and researcher, will attend the discussion session and talk about the history of Azad Cinema, the filmmaking atmosphere of that period and the achievements of “Azad Cinema”.
It should be noted that, while founding the first specialized short film festivals and publishing numerous books and publications, the “Free Cinema” movement gave identity to the short film and proposed it as a medium to search and discover a better, thoughtful and sensitive cinema for its society.
