The creation of Bebai character goes back to 2017. Mohammad Mehdi Meshkuri and Hossein Safarzadegan as producers and directors created an animation series that quickly became the most watched animation on Poya Network.
Bebai is a 10-minute animation that takes the audience along with a simple story in each episode. Attractive face painting, lovely fantasy atmosphere, and even its beautiful title song, which children quickly memorize, all have led to the formation of an animation series suitable for Iranian children. This success encouraged the team of creators to produce a movie using these characters. Bebai, the protagonist of the narrator is a little Bebai who wishes to fly! But he is a non-bird who has to go through many challenges on this path.
This work is a musical and is made in the genre of fantasy and adventure, suitable for the age group of 6+. The focus of Bebai Hero animation is on the importance of dreaming to achieve it. The animation of the hero looks disappointing at first glance. From the same poster, it is clear that the atmosphere of cinematic animation is completely different from the TV series. Bebai’s innocent and cute face has changed to an evil and passionate and of course adult face. The other characters in the poster are completely new to the old audience of the animation, even the character of Babu may not be recognized at all at a glance. Bebai hero has an acceptable script. The story starts well and its main elements are formed, such as the dream of flying and the competition between Bebai and Mrs. Turkey. The turning point of the story, which is Bebe’s invitation to Miss Turkey’s school, is one of the best parts of this animation.
The second act accompanies the story and is perhaps the best part of the screenplay and moves forward the confrontation between the hero and the anti-hero of the story. But the third act is the weakest part of the script. The sudden appearance of the father with his new invention, which has not been mentioned at all until now, the weakness in the characterization of the father as one of the main and important characters of the story, is one of the serious weaknesses of the script.
Bebai is a hero but has a good and attractive outline. The main hero is the actor and he is the one who moves the story forward. In front of him is the anti-hero antagonist who is Mrs. Turkey, but unfortunately she enters the story late and the excuse for her entry into the story is weak from the point of view of dramatic logic. At the same time, I must say that the element of creativity in making models is a little behind the technique. One of the strengths of this animation is that it is 3D and that it has a very high technical quality, and in terms of graphics and modeling, it does not lack anything from American animations. This animation has a motivational content from the thematic point of view. From this point of view, the hero wants to tell the children not to give up on their dreams and to work hard to achieve them.
Finally, Bebai Hero can be considered a colorful and musical work that has managed to attract the attention of the children’s audience and they leave the movie theaters satisfied.
