In continuation of publishing its series of oral history meetings, coinciding with the birthday of “Dariush Farhang”, a veteran actor of cinema, theater and television, the Museum of Cinema has published parts of the conversation of this artist, which you can read parts of.
to report cinema cinemaDariush Farhang stated that he loves Iranian people very much and said: I have often thought to myself why people love artists, the reason is that they know them as their own and respect them.
He continued: Personally, I have always tried to respect people’s intelligence and understanding, not to do random things and not to lower my acting level because I believe that artists are the eyes and ears of the people and a mirror in front of the society.
Farhang stated that cinema is not the way to record everything that happens in front of it, and said: Cinema is not reality, but a new reality that is created with a camera. Everything must be made from the reality that is, because a new reality arises from it, which is more real than that.
Referring to the movie “Basho Gharibeh e Kochoch” he noted: In the film “Basho Gharibeh e Kochoch” I was the first assistant to Bahram Baizai and I learned a lot from him because he has a different kind of cinema.
Farhang also said about the movie “Talsam”: During the making of Talsam, I was constantly thinking about what I was going to make a film about and I asked a friend who was in our group, what do you think this film is about and he replied He told me it was about love. That is, if he hadn’t told me, I would have gone looking for characters like the prince and the farmer, etc., and I would have been completely misled, but then I realized that the main story is beyond love, that is, about the absence of love.
He pointed out: Varozh Karim Meshii was supposed to make the series “Sarbadaran” and Bahram Bayzaei wrote it. The producer, Mr. Pertoy, said to make a sample of Varoge so that we can see how it would look like, and I, being very young, played the role of a bloodthirsty Mongol.
At the end, he addressed Fereydoun Jirani, who was sitting with him in a conversation, and said: My advice to young people is that you should change your view and have an opinion about the world and the universe, because then you can continue your work.
