According to Khabaronline news agency, on the third day of the “Truth Cinema” international festival, the commemoration of the documentary maker, director, cinematographer and editor of Iranian cinema Ebrahim Saeedi was held.
Ebrahim Saeedi said at the beginning about the “Truth Cinema” festival: documentary filmmakers produce works with a lot of effort throughout the year and they need a place to be seen, and unfortunately, in the field of documentaries, the space for broadcasting films and communicating with audiences is very limited. As the only festival and venue that is being held with an acceptable standard, “Cinema-Ghekrit” festival tries to collect the high-quality works of documentary filmmakers with a specialized perspective.
He continued: The international festival “Cinema-Ghekrit” gathers documentary makers together and they can have a good interaction with each other and provide the basis for their future works.
This veteran documentary maker explained about the need to pay attention to the economic situation in documentary production: In the past years, something very important has happened in the field of filmmaking, and its impact is even more visible in documentary cinema. The issue of making the filmmaking process more expensive is very important. In the past years, most of those who were engaged in production were independent and with the help of friends, but such a thing is not possible now that all the talk is billions. If the documentary film production process is to continue and talented documentary makers can continue their path, this category should be seriously considered.
He added: In Iran, apart from the Center for the Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animation Cinema and Television, we do not have any other serious producers that you can reach an agreement with in terms of budget to cover the costs. In the process of documenting the economic sector, it is an important concern that needs to be paid more attention to and funding. For example, as you know, Farabi is active in the production of fiction films, and you can have a similar view on the production of documentary cinema. Apart from the motivation and desire of the filmmakers, the economic issue is a serious and important issue that should be seriously thought about.
Saeedi said about his commemoration at the 18th “Cinema-Ghekrit” International Festival: I say without flattery and humility that it is really hard to accept such a point that I myself have reached a position where they would honor me. I still see many thoughts and ideas and unfinished tasks in front of me.
In the end, Ebrahim Saeedi said: I never felt that I had reached the end of my work in documenting, and it is still hard for me to believe such a thing. I am very grateful to the friends who organized the “Sinemavegrit” festival. The fact of the matter is that I do not see this commemoration as personal and what is very important to me is that as someone who has worked far from Tehran and the center for many years, I see this commemoration for filmmakers who live in the cities. they operate I appreciate my friends who see these efforts.
