Mr. Davari, who is a good filmmaker (at least for me!) and a good teacher (at least for some of his students!) took an action that was outside of judging etiquette at the closing ceremony of the 41st International Festival of Young Cinema Short Films. He called his student, who is also a good filmmaker (as evidenced by the short film he made!) to Roy Sen and praised him (while the film and the filmmaker were not on the jury’s selection list!)
There is no doubt that such a move is not acceptable in any way, of course for the author of this article, otherwise, if the referee filmmaker had such an idea, he would never have gone behind the podium of an official program and would not have left his legal position as a judge and placed himself in a personal position. He did not understand that he was going to favor his student. Perhaps, if he had done this a few years ago and at his commemoration ceremony at the Fajr Film Festival, it would have been a commendable gesture that spoke of his generosity. But now and in the position he was in, his action is actually abusing his position. He should also apologize! The fact that such a request or rather a proposal is made despite the desire of the heart and without taking into account the artistic and scientific position of this referee artist, more than his action, is due to the damage that has been done to the ethics and principles of judging in all human fields in recent years. . A defect that has not destroyed justice in arbitration in most fields (sports, art, justice, politics, governance, etc.), has caused a deficiency.
In some judgments, the balance of justice is not equal. It has become heavier towards classmates, relatives, friends, companions, party members and so on. I think that this recent case can be the beginning of a review of the process and method of the secretary who knowingly and unknowingly has hit people’s beliefs, the method of judgment, the right path, etc.
A blow that has caused some judges to turn a blind eye to their main duties when judging and rule in such a way that they seek the pleasure of the creature more than the pleasure of the creator (that is, the creature who is not entitled and ruling in his favor destroys another’s right). Undoubtedly, it is turning a blind eye that has increased financial corruption, political and economic extravagance, people’s dissatisfaction, etc. Mr. Filmmaker Judge, please apologize and explain, and prevent bad and worse judges from entering the world of art!
