The message of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance / Documentary cinema is a new window to reality

According to the Khabar Online news agency, citing the public relations of the Center for the Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animated Cinema, the 18th International Documentary Film Festival of Iran “Cinema-Ghekrit” will begin tomorrow, Sunday, December 18. Seyyed Abbas Salehi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, released a message on the occasion of the start and holding of this event. In this text, we read: “In the name of God, documentary cinema is a platform for representing the truth and reflecting the world without mediation, and it plays a unique role in strengthening our understanding of culture, history and society. The “Truth Cinema” festival provides a pure opportunity to portray the different views, ideas and narratives of documentary makers from various angles. The works presented in this festival give a clear and expressive voice to the narratives that are lost in everyday life. Narratives that encourage the society to think and reflect on the domestic and international issues of today.

“Truth Cinema” is a symbol of the valuable efforts of Iranian filmmakers in the documentary field and acts as a bridge between the audience and the complex world in which we live. In the 18th Iranian International Documentary Film Festival “Truth Cinema”, we are witnessing the presence of documentary filmmakers who have created works with taste, commitment and awareness and have opened new windows to the real world through their works. Documentary films, focusing on various social, cultural and historical issues while presenting a humane and ethical perspective, create a new and constructive discourse that can inspire.

Documentary filmmakers these days are the eyes of the society and the language that recounts the shortcomings and reflects the common beauties and honors that we all are proud of together.

While appreciating the big family of Iranian documentary cinema, which has always been the standard-bearer of valuable, noble and ethical art, I hope that the 14th government will provide the ground for further growth and development of this cinema and try to make documentary cinema, as the honest narrator of what is going on in Iran and the world today. The recorder should be faithful to reality. Seyed Abbas Salehi”

The 18th International Iranian Documentary Film Festival “Cinema-Ghekrit” under the direction of Mohammad Hamidi Moghadam, will start tomorrow, Sunday, December 18, at Charso Film Campus.
